Katori
Katori (Bust Cup)
Molded or darted fabric cup constructed in Indian blouses
Tailoring Drafting Rule
Always expand the baseline drafting piece by 1.25" on both outer sides before cutting fabric.
What is a Katori?
In traditional Indian blouse architecture, the Katori is the curved, 3-dimensional fabric cup drafted to cradle the bust naturally.
Single vs. Double Katori:
- Single Katori: Constructed from a single curved piece shaped by a prominent base apex dart.
- Double Katori: Bifurcated horizontally into upper and lower parabolic sections, providing enhanced contouring for fuller busts without conical pointing.
