Mudda
Mudda (Armhole Depth)
Vertical armhole drop measurement and curvature
Tailoring Drafting Rule
Armhole drop = Bust / 6 + 0.5". Front pattern requires a 0.75" deeper curve than back.
Definition of Mudda (Armhole Depth)
In tailoring, Mudda denotes the vertical distance from the shoulder seam line down to the lowest point of the armhole base.
Calculation Ratio:
- $\text{Armhole Depth} = \frac{\text{Full Bust}}{6} + 0.5 \text{ inches}$
- 32” Bust: 5.5 inches
- 36” Bust: 6.0 to 6.25 inches
- 40” Bust: 6.5 to 6.75 inches
Front vs Back Difference:
The front armhole requires an inward contour scooped 0.75 inches deeper than the back armhole to accommodate chest movement without bunched fabric.
